Build me a castle with walls so deep,
Then I won’t have to hear all the anger.
Build it on a high mountain so steep,
Then I won’t have to see all the suffering.
Surround it with a great moat so wide,
Then I won’t have to feel so much fear.
Arm it with strong mighty guards inside,
Then I won’t have to feel so much despair.
In my solitude, I could write each day,
While the shadows within grow long,
I am alone in my castle, hidden away.
Until I realize that something’s gone wrong.
What I fear most is not what is beyond my reach,
Instead, it is the foe within who attacks and haunts.
No enemies are needed to surmount and breach,
No castle can protect me from my own thoughts.
I get it. Very good
